A store built on the idea that less, done well, is everything.
How it started
Started in a Copenhagen kitchen. Still run like one.
Arko began in 2019 when our founder Mia Halvorsen couldn't find a cutting board she felt good about — one that was beautiful, sustainably sourced, and built to outlast a decade of daily use. She found a teak workshop in Java. She ordered one board. Then twenty.
What started as a single product became a guiding question: what does it look like when every object in your home is chosen with this much care? We've spent the years since trying to answer it — one category at a time.
Today Arko carries over 60 products across five categories, sourced from 23 maker studios across 14 countries. Every item is stocked in our Copenhagen warehouse and shipped carbon-neutrally worldwide.

Sustainable by default
Every material is chosen for its environmental footprint first. We work with certified suppliers and publish full traceability reports annually.
Made to last
We refuse to make things designed to be replaced. Each product is tested for years of use, and we offer repair services for everything we sell.
Circular thinking
Our packaging is 100% compostable. We operate a take-back programme — return anything you no longer need and we'll find it a second life.
Makers first
We pay above fair-trade rates and visit every partner studio in person before listing their work. Long-term relationships over short-term margin.
